It’s Gemini Season! I can't believe we are already more than half way through the month of May. Covid-19 feels like it truly robbed my concept of time. Any plans I had for this year have obviously took way longer to accomplish. I feel grateful that I managed to stay pretty busy during these times working on The Mystic Parlor, but I still find myself getting caught up in day dreams about what this year could have been like if none of these things happened. I know that is probably not a healthy thing to do, as thinking too much about a past that was never going to happen does nothing for me in the present, but I do feel like when I get more present I find gratitude in so many places for this weird detour we all had. I have gotten to spend more time with my husband in the last 3 months than probably we have ever had in the 10 1/2 years we have been together which has been amazing! Evelyn and I also got to set up our online store and spend more time working on the shop, which enabled us to work on a lot of things in a slower and more methodical way than we would have been able to do if we had fully opened back in March. I have had to really buck up and deal with parts of myself that I haven't really had to face in life yet, and it has made me truly stronger. I also feel like I have more optimism and faith in what we as a people can accomplish if we support each other through difficult times. Ok, enough reflecting ( which is a trait of Gemini), lets talk about Gemini season!
[Castor and Pollux by Meissen Porcelain Factory after Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer, 1788-1789]
Ruled by the planet Mercury, Gemini is the mutable air sign of the zodiac, ruling the 3rd house. The 3rd house represents how we communicate, our ability to think and analyze with our minds, writing, technology, science, siblings, and neighbors. Gemini's affirmation is "I think." With the planet Mercury, we discover our learning style, how we communicate, and the way we internalize and reflect our perceptions to ourselves as well as others. There is a dual nature in the sign of Gemini that is represented in the Greek myths of Castor and Pollux, and their feminine twin sisters Helen and Clytemnestra. Pollux and Helen were the children of Zeus, and Castor and Clytemnestra were said to be the children of Tyndareus the king of Sparta, while both sets were mothered from Leda. (Some variations of the myth differ.)
Like its opposite, Sagittarius, Gemini energy is a curious sign. Gemini wants to know the truth, the facts, the way things work, and enjoys sharing that information. Gemini energy always reminds me of the butterfly from the Last Unicorn. Buzzing around communicating in riddles, impatient, funny, and light hearted. Gemini lends itself to insight and how we sense things we are perceiving, which is then later how we become knowledgeable about what we are learning.
Last week I had the honor of discussing Gemini season on San Diego based astrologer Melissa Lafara’s podcast “Energetic Principals.” We shared personal anecdotes and discussed the transits for the month. You can listen here: Gemini Season on Energetic Principals
Because Gemini is largely associated with the mind, those who have large Gemini placements in their chart are often prone to anxiety, overthinking, feeling mentally ungrounded, and always needing some sort of mental stimulation. It is positive for Gemini dominant people to exercise the body and spend time in nature as it helps to ground the nervous system and expel some of the built up mental energy that Gemini's are so prone to carrying. Pranayama Yoga, a breath focused yoga, is also a positive way to ground and connect to Gemini and Mercurial energy in a healthy way.
Mindfulness is a great word to meditate on as we enter this Gemini energy! Wishing you all New Moon Blessings this week!

Monday 5/18
Moon in Aries
Moon sextile Mercury in Gemini 10:17 am
Starting our week out with the Moon in Aries, we could feel like we have a lot of drive and determination to accomplish whatever we set out to do today. With the Moon making a harmonious sextile to Mercury in the morning, we are able to communicate effectively in a direct and honest way.
We benefit from staying active, as this energy can build up inside in unhealthy ways if not expelled. Exercise and healthy ways to get your body moving is advised.
Tuesday 5/19
Moon in Aries
Moon sextile Venus RX in Gemini 1:17 am
Moon square Pluto RX in Capricorn 8:51 am
Moon void of course square Jupiter RX in Capricorn 1:33 pm
Moon enters Taurus 7:10 pm
Moon square Saturn RX in Aquarius 10:58 pm
We could feel some tension during the first half of the day before our Moon makes its way into Taurus. We may feel pressure to get a lot done and could feel tension around how we push forward. We benefit from taking breaks in between our productivity and not getting too caught up in what doesn't go the way we wanted. If we approach the day trying to control it too much, we are setting ourselves up for frustration and irritability.
When the Moon moves into the grounded energy of Taurus, it would be best if we slowed down and tried to center ourselves in the here and now as best we can. Try to do some sort of grounding exercise in the evening rather than spending the night getting too caught up in your thoughts.
Wednesday 5/20
Moon in Taurus
Moon sextile Mars in Pisces 5:10 am
Sun enters Gemini 6:49 am
Moon conjunct Uranus in Taurus 11:07 am
Venus RX in Gemini square Neptune in Pisces 4:03 pm
Happy birthday Gemini’s! It is your time to shine! How fitting is it that Gemini season begins on the day ruled by Mercury! I had the pleasure of discussing this whole next month with Melissa Lafara from Energetic Principals on her podcast. Link is in the opening paragraph of this blog! With the Sun in Gemini over the next month, we may feel more of a desire for socializing and getting active. Obviously with social distancing still being a thing, and the Sun making trine aspects to Saturn in the coming days, this might feel like we are having to navigate what we want to do with others, while still questioning what the “right” thing to do for our communities is. There is already a lot of change within the state regulations around things opening up here in California, we can feel people becoming more relaxed about social distancing, which in turn makes people a bit more aggravated about having to follow any county regulations. Gemini season will be an interesting time where we navigate the stories in the media, with the reality of the experience we are living, and trying to balance the duality of what is safe and practical, vs what we think, want, and feel.
Venus retrograde makes a square to Neptune in Pisces today and could have us feeling dreamy and ungrounded for the next few days. For some of us this could be an extremely creative and inspired time, while for others, we could feel like we are having a hard time staying practical and realistic about what is doable. If we are prone to existential fear or anxiety, we could feel some heightened feelings around that. It is important we find healthy ways to stay grounded, while utilizing this access to the ethereal realms in a positive way. This is a good time for meditation, spiritual work, dream work, creative projects, and working through the subconscious. We may not see things clearly when it comes to other people or our relationships, try to use a healthy level of discernment with decision making right now.
Thursday 5/21
Moon in Taurus
Moon sextile Neptune in Pisces 12:19 pm
Moon trine Pluto RX in Capricorn 8:29 pm
The Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus and is a great time to do earth based activities such as cooking, gardening, physical activity and connecting with nature. This is a great day to go outside for a few hours, even just if it’s in your backyard, or a walk around the neighborhood. We also may feel a lot of creative energy today. Those of us who are artistic, or creative people will benefit from this boost and could see ourselves feeling inspired and motivated to utilize this momentum for any ongoing or new projects we have in the works.
Friday 5/22
Mercury in Gemini conjunct Venus RX in Gemini 1:41 am
Sun in Gemini trine Saturn RX in Aquarius 5:02 am
Moon enters Gemini 6:36 am
Mercury in Gemini square Neptune in Pisces 8:43 am
Moon trine Saturn in Aquarius 10:12 am
New Moon 2 degrees of Gemini 10:39 am
Moon square Mars in Pisces 7:43 pm
Moon sextile Chiron in Aries 10:57 pm
Today starts off with four powerful transits; Mercury in Gemini teaming up with Venus retrograde, our Sun in Gemini making an air trine to Saturn in Aquarius, Mercury squaring Neptune, and a New Moon in Gemini! This energy enhances our communication and mental abilities. We are able to effectively analyze and strategize our ideas for the future, but we also may have a hard time being realistic and seeing things for what they really are. With our New Moon in Gemini we do well setting intentions around our communication within our relationships, and how we internalize our own narrative. Anxiety is possible over the next couple days, finding ways to ground yourself is beneficial.
Key points for reflection during this New Moon in Gemini:
How am I communicating in my relationships?
How am I projecting my perceptions or opinions onto the world?
What is my communication style, and how do I relate to others?
What do a perceive as truth?
How are my thoughts creating my reality?
Saturday 5/23
Moon in Gemini
Moon conjunct Venus in Gemini 8:15 pm
Moon square Neptune in Pisces 10:34 pm
With our New Moon frequency still in the air, we may still feel an energy hangover from the previous day. If we feel anxious or ungrounded in the evening hours, we benefit from being active with our bodies to help neutralize our minds. Breathing exercises and spending time outside is recommended. If you enjoy writing, this is also a good time to tune into creative energy and express your feelings in a creative way through the written word.
Sunday 5/24
Moon in Gemini
Moon void of course conjunct Mercury in Gemini 4:09 am
Moon inconjunct Pluto in capricorn 6:19 am
Moon inconjunct Jupiter in Capricorn 10:38 am
Moon enters Cancer 4:09 pm
Moon inconjunct Saturn RX in Aquarius 7:32 pm
Mercury in Gemini inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn 9:26 pm
Mars in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus 11:48 pm
We could feel ungrounded most of the day today, and overly sensitive when the Moon makes its way into Cancer in the afternoon. This could be a difficult day in regard to anxiety and how we are communicating our feelings. We may feel tired, and like we want to slow down after having a busy week. We benefit from being kind to ourselves in the evening hours and not pushing ourselves passed what we can handle. Mars in Pisces making a harmonious sextile to Uranus in the evening enables us to be more open to changes happening, and mysteries of our future that lay ahead. This is a good time to be strategic and creative in our approach to things, while also open to following our intuition as best we can, knowing we might make mistakes along the way.
