“After Having Heard An Inspired Individual Deliver His “Sermon On The Mount,” Crowds Are Returning Home”
We are in the eye of the storm with this new moon in Scorpio and it has probably felt like the worst is over but there is a stirring deep within that says there is more to come. The natural ruler of the 8th house in the natal chart, Scorpio works to resurface what has been laid dormant within the depths of the subconscious. The 8th house represents sex, death, rebirth and regeneration which are themes that are associated with the Scorpio archetype. During the new moon we take time to rest, ensuring our mental health is well taken care of. We have to fill our own cup up before braving the storm again. Recentering and grounding yourself is a way to store up your personal power center to pull from when you need to move forward with courage. This is one of the most psychic times of the year along with Pisces season. That is so because Scorpio has a keen sense for how and where all the game pieces will be played out. All of the water signs have a strong sense of intuition and feels their way through reality rather than asserting logic as their leader. What is the difference between instinct and intuition? Instinct lives within the physical vessel itself and intuition is a sensing of energy outside of the self. Instinct is a primal trait all people have and is something that gets sparked during high energy moments, for example a mother’s instinct with her child is an animalistic, physical response. Intuition is the psychic awareness of subtle energy and Scorpio has the ability to tap into both of these forms of awareness.
Being ruled by the fiery planet Mars and the god of the underworld Pluto, Scorpio’s senses are heightened, seeing what is unseen and feeling what is unspoken. They say you can’t keep any secrets from a Scorpio and that very well could be because Scorpio is functioning consistently from below the surface of awareness. During the Scorpio New Moon, you can call upon these deeply psychic forces if you are the more grounded type. We all have seasons that we go through where we are more in tune with various elements, that’s just the natural rhythm of live. Having respect for the cycles means having ultimate trust in all phases of change. Trust – a big word for Scorpio season, is a vulnerable act. Trusting in the process of rebirth means relinquishing a certain level of control or, relinquishing the illusion that you have had control all along.
Opening oneself up to allow another in is the ultimate form of vulnerability because we offer our power to the other person. Teasing as a form of flirting to provoke another’s emotions is a part of the game that can toe the line of torment. Scorpio can take pride in its ability to manipulate how another person reacts. Showing excitement in one’s own dominance and strength tends to be a form of foreplay for some. Noticing where we assert our dominance on the other and even in our own lives shows where we reflect our own weaknesses. The act of BDSM is power play at its finest. Have you ever had moments of random desires towards destruction? Like the kid who can’t help themselves but destroy the sandcastle that was meticulously labored over for hours or the person who can’t help but smash the food on their plate just to see the contents squish under the spoon. There is an innate desire to feel one’s own power within the Scorpio archetype. When we suppress this urge and ignore that this is a natural instinct of the human psyche, it manifests in the form of the shadow self. Emotional suppression is unhealthy but at times necessary. During the New Moon we must engage in those emotions that we have suppressed. It doesn’t mean we have to necessarily take action on them right away but at least be honest enough with ourselves to see where we have those innate desires that we do not let out, the desires that if shared we would feel shamed. The deeper we push those emotions, the denser they become and the denser they become, the more they manifest as projections onto our outside reality.
This New Moon features some tight aspects that are worth mentioning. Venus in Libra, our fighter for equality and harmony is creating tensions with Pluto the planet of the underworld in Capricorn the sign of the authoritarian. Our relationships with other people feel tense or that there are problems arising that have been repressed. Mars has gone direct and will begin offering forward movement towards resolutions by November 20th. The co-ruler of Scorpio was in retrograde motion for the last two months, pushing efforts and feelings of discontent inward. Now we can start to see the solutions and after the New Moon energy in Scorpio, asses where we were maybe holding on too tightly out of fear of losing control. We sometimes mistake justice for revenge and with the Venus square Pluto it can feel like sweet justice is taking place for the wrongs that others have put us through. This also extends to the political powers that be, consider where the collective might be indulging in the artificial sweeteners that only offer us a quick fix rather than a long-term solution towards actionable justice. Notice where the addictions to instant gratification surface. Pluto shows us where we substitute true affection for the chemical release of simple substances ie sugar, and other serotonin boosters.
Mercury has been in Scorpio since November 11th, words come out sharply and can cut through uncomfortable situations with direct and very forward communication. Mercury enters an exact inconjunct with Chiron, the wounded healer in Aries during the New Moon. Words are powerful tools that vibrate with distinct energy patterns. The words that we use are reflective of deeper parts of our own belief systems. If you use judgmental language towards yourself and others, it is injecting certain frequencies into your being. Vocal toning is a powerful tool where you sing a tone in the form of a vowel. There are 7 vowels and each one resonates with one of the 7 chakras. This is an excellent practice that shows how the vibrations of the voice can have an impact on the energy field within and around the body*. Vocal toning releases oxytocin which is called the “trust” hormone in the body, a key theme for Scorpio. By engaging in a conscious practice of using the voice as a healing tool, you activate that higher vibration of what Chiron and Mercury. Mercury will be in opposition to Uranus in Taurus just a couple of days after the New Moon in Scorpio. This energy brings in opportunities to strengthen the connection to the collective. If you have been feeling burnt out by social media and engaging too much with the collective energies, this will be another time where the energy might be quite intense. On the other hand, it can be a really productive time for connecting with friends on the technological plane and the ethereal. The sun leaves Scorpio and enters the truth-seeking sign of Sagittarius November 21st / 22nd which begins our eclipse season. Eclipses usher in big shifts and changes so take the time to regenerate and heal while the New Moon in Scorpio is supporting that flow because come Sagittarius season we will be out there again, forging ahead, fighting for truth and freedom of self-expression.
